I am always fascinated by the ingenuity and craftsmanship that can be found in the most unlikely of places. I honestly wouldn't have considered the complexities of creating a hat block until the one night we found that brown hat you helped shape and form when we found it at Centralia.

Where might you recommend someone to go see an artist at work?

The only recommendation I can make, anywhere kinda near to where I live, because I own the hat and know the work is Jaxonbilt over in Salmon, Idaho. I know a number of guys who wear hats made for them by Jaxonbilt:

Unfortunately, Roy from Jaxonbilt has passed away.

The closest to where you live, I think, is Tumwater Hat. But I know nothing about them as they make hat styles that I don't wear:

A great little city for a weekend getaway that isn't too far away is Pendleton, Oregon. It has two custom hatters. Montana Peak and the Pendleton Hat Co.:

If you don't need custom and are in Pendleton, Hamley's is a great place to buy a hat and eat a steak.

And of course locally to me, Centerville. Not a huge selection of hats, and nothing high end, but for most people just fine:
