You have a great writting style and are naturally good at articulating while being authentic. Since you had people using A.I. to write articles, I've noticed others also mentioned that as well. Ive never used it to write any of my articles, but recently I used Grok (Elons A.I.) and asked it to edit three of my first articles here on Substack. I did add credits to the post. I have to say, I am pleased with how it corrected my Grammer and structure. I think it did a better job than I did. As odd as it may sound, I even have full in conversations with it like you would have with a peer or teacher. It's like speaking to an oracle. Have you tried it?
I think that there is a really big difference between using AI to write an essay or an article, and using it as an editing aid. The first is I think horribly unethical, the latter is a proper use of a tool.
I don't use it for editing, but I don't imagine it would work well for me anyway. I break so many grammar rules the whole darn thing would get rejected! 🤠
I've not tried a conversation with it, but I did watch a podcast with Elon having a full on conversation with Grok. He got the thing to actually be funny!
There is a Tarot writer here on Substack who has been doing just this, and then writing about it for quite some time now. I'm sorry, her name slips my mind at the moment, but she's a frequent commenter over at The Keystone. It is interesting.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m in the slow arduous process of tidying up my space, optimizing my real estate, minimizing non-writing tasks, and adding some pmt options. I really appreciate what you’ve shared. I find myself tempted to package my work but I believe strongly that would take the fun out of throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks which is my natural, soul-deep method of creating. My journey might take me elsewhere because algorithms be damned at this point. What I’m doing to ensure thoughtfulness in my evolutionary process is diversifying. I am going to collaborate more to expand community and I’m going to try YouTube under my current Bren’s Buzz umbrella because I have ideas for 2 channels. Im also going to publish my first anthology - of the three part dragon fiction I’ve recently published here (last of three coming this week).
Very cool that you are going to try YouTube! I've never been comfortable appearing on video, so it's not in the future for me!
I feel like I spend a lot of time doing 'Writing Adjacent' and 'Creating Adjacent' things, like promoting my Substack work on other platforms and the like, but I wonder if that is just a form of procrastination for me at worst, or just spinning my wheels at best.
I hang out (online) with a bunch of pretty darn successful writers, and the advice consistently given is that the best way to promote the last thing written is by writing the next thing. My hunch is that's really good advice and I should probably stop ignoring it!
My husband innately understood music before ever taking a music lesson. Now I’m not saying to not take formal music training, but it only interrupted his music voice. He believes if he had continued that route it would have suppressed his natural music expression and voice.
I took music lessons and never could play music worth a darn. Kind of the same with my whole family. All except for my wife's grandfather.
He never took a music lesson in his life, but he could play just about any instrument, and was in bands for his entire adult life including small record deals (although he never got famous for his music.) He could just 'do it' somehow. As I live in his house, the place is still filled with all kinds of musical instruments, that alas, no one here now can actually play.
The best musicians I’ve ever seen have two things. God-given talent and love for music. I grew up around music because my grandparents did not have a TV or believe in TV. Just radio and their piano. So every evening at their home after dinner we would all sing and play the piano. But for the most part our family wasn’t musically inclined except for my younger brother. The same is true for my husband‘s family. Just he and his sister have any real talent for the art.
Sadly some people like myself included love music — and I wish I could sing, but every note comes out flat. I pretend in the car. When I’m alone! 🤣🤣🤣
I too wish I could sing, but alas, I'm quite sure that upon hearing any of my attempts to do so all the neighborhood cats and dogs run off in terror! We actually make fun of ourselves when the family sings someone Happy Birthday, it's never a good thing!
My ex-husband really had a desire to seeing and he visited a voice coach in Hollywood for about a three hour session. I must say after his first lesson he was actually able to sing much better. The coach told him in all of his experience there was only one person he could not help. But I can’t remember the coaches name, and I never talk to my ex-husband anymore to find out. Lol!
That was an interesting account Cameron, and I couldn’t agree more on voice: it’s the thing I look for most in a writer (on Substack but anywhere really), and it is what I like about your work. I think I’ve dipped into several of your accounts, but it’s this one, your personal one, I value most, for what it’s worth.
Thank you Tom. I really appreciate your kind words, and I've truly enjoyed getting to know you a little bit through your own essays here on Substack! Not writing much these past few weeks I had a lot of time to reflect on my publishing here. Really it's the first break I've had since I started, and it was interesting to look back on what I've been doing. Seeing what I've done right, and what I've done wrong.

Thank you Brother. I appreciate your kind words.

I would be curious for you to do a tarot spread and ask Grok to explain it, just to get your opinion on how it interprets symbolism

My husband tells me that all the time! “Your writing is good just keep posting and you’ll grow.”
I think it is true! It's hard to have faith in it though. At least for me.
