MWB, I worry that this much over exposure to hats, and the Carbontetracloride used in the making there of has damaged your mind.

Oh, yeah, no doubt. As the old saying goes "Mad as a hatter."

Is this one of those things where the hat slowly ends up taking over the host? 😂

Could make for a fine horror novel!

Perhaps we could call it… “The Hats of Us” that flick where the mushroom zombies take over the world.

I fear that my addiction grew a wee bit worse today.

Okay, fine. This time I can’t propose a stocking cap, because it’s too hot right now to wear one.

But I was going to propose a little-boy hat in a loud Blaze orange/camouflage cap. Very common, and the archery hunters wear them extensively, likely due to the archery season being earlier (and hence warmer) than the rifle seasons. Interestingly, despite the purpose of the Blaze orange being loud to the human eye, you can actually blend in well with the camouflage breakup if you sit down at the bottom of a Maple tree stump with a few years of shoots with leaves in late October. As the deer don’t pick up the longer visible wavelengths as well as they do the shorter ones, if you don’t move weird, they’re not going to see you if you’re buried among the orange and yellow leaves of the Maple tree. But the bottom line is you won’t look out of place with one of these hats.

Also to be fair, I was mulling over grabbing my red Effanem crusher as well before I got further into reading this article. Either that or the brown one. Not sure at this time.

Glad to hear that you'll be digging out one of your Effanem hats! That's some solid traditional camping!

As for Blaze Orange, there is only one suitable Blaze Orange hat, the Beagle hat with a Blaze Orange crown and a green checked brim:

Agreed. If one is a ten year old boy. 🤠

This one is cool, too.

It matches my hunting jacket.

$90? If it's hand made, I get it. But it makes me pause, as I'm rough on hats.

Honestly, I kind of like both the red buffalo check, and the green check. I'd probably go with the green though, for me. Alas though, my cruiser jacket is blue buffalo check, so I don't imagine I'll ever find anything like this to match that.

The Filson wool packer is more, but the wool is thicker:

I keep thinking that I'd like one of those Filsons for really bad weather, but neither of the logging stores I frequent ever seem to have them in stock in my size, and I'm not keen to order straight from Filson because their hat sizing (and frankly construction) is wildly inconsistent.

Now,i know the tow side mind.……..i am want to join nember。but china is cant be, perhaps I am just a traveler staying in China

I'm glad to have you reading!

Perhaps consider a lanolin spray top coat for the Crusher?

I suspect that if REI does not have something on that order, then Filson, LL Bean, or one of the other major outdoor stores, such as (gasp!) Bass Pro, would have something similar.

or you could check with your favorite ammunition reloader .....

Lightly applied, it should not change the nap of the hat, nor it's breathability, but should protect in anything short of a prolonged downpour,

Great minds think alike! I actually hit the hat with some spray yesterday. A couple light coats. I think that will do the trick.
