Sending my condolences to you Cameron and your wife. I’m sorry I missed this post earlier. I grew a tree with my brothers ashes, and it’s growing in our backyard reminding me his life essence lives on. Laying your puppy to sleep under your tree is a perfect place of rest when not having fun with the squirrels 🐿 πŸ’«πŸ’œπŸ™

Thank you for your kind thoughts Charlotte. I appreciate it. And I do think it quite wonderful if we can place our loved one's ashes in a place that allows transformation into something beautiful. I did something similar with my father's ashes years ago that they can provide nourishment to growing flora. So much better I think than an urn buried in a cemetery or sitting on a mantle. At least for me.

Apologies Cameron. There are few worse things than the loss of these perfect four-legged monsters. I do not doubt that Cooper would appreciate how much you've done.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. It is amazing how attached we can get to them, and how deeply they integrate into our lives.

What a perfect place - resting, where the squirrels congregate :-)

And as I genuinely believe that our furry companions live on in energy, I am confident the Admiral is keeping watch... <3

Yeah, I think that he'll like it. The creatures active in the yard always fascinated him, plus he'd like knowing that we can see him everytime we look out the window.

I am not sure about the nature of the afterlife, but I do know that energy can be transformed, but not destroyed, and I believe that souls are not limited to humanity alone.

Have you got another dog? When our Daisy was killed before my eyes I could not recover until we got Darcy. We now have 4. One or more will outlive me.

No, not yet. But I do know from past losses of dogs that I'm like you, true healing doesn't occur until the next dog comes. Since childhood five have passed away, four after leading long lives, the fifth taken young by cancer.

One day soon we'll visit the local animal shelters and find an excellent dog to adopt.
