And I think that our job, as writers, is not to protect the reader from having beliefs challenged. Indeed, if writers didn't challenge existing beliefs, our world could never improve.
This happened to me, and so many I know following COVID-19 lockdowns and forced vaccinations. Many friends including close ones and even relatives block me on Facebook because I do not support vaccines. I wasn’t vocal about it, but because I obviously didn’t support it, I noticed I lost many of those relationships. But, the great news is I found better and more meaningful friendships during that trying period.
We were lucky, we lost no friends over the vax or other Covid stuff. Honestly I think that some of that might be due to where we live. In our rural county people didn't place much faith in the various mandates. That was super visible when we'd go out and see how few were following the mask rules at the time.
Beyond that, our friend group includes a Dr. who was highly sceptical, and we have two Dr's. in the family who were not in favor of the vax. So, the people closest to us had that skepticism built in.
Fortunately my doctor whose father I talked about in one of my recent articles were both opposed to forcing vaccines. That is brave of your doctors and mine during that challenging period.
Oh Charlotte, I am so sorry... the love a vaccine more than they love you😭If people only love those whom they are told to love, then it is not love, but merely compliance - and they want is OUR compliance in return.
concur. I am what I am, and I'm too experienced to try and be something I'm not to assuage someone else's opinion of what I should be.

If God didn't want a You in the World, He wouldn't have made a You...
be You.
Perfectly said! Thank you very much!
Sometimes members of your old tribe go their way making room for new members whoike and support your ideas, and what you write. Thank you Cameron ✨
We may have to give up a friendship in order to make room in our lives for an even stronger friendship to come about.

Indeed, there was very little bravery on display at the time. Honestly, it really shocked me how few were willing to stand up against it all.

Never comply with people who do not value you.

I value Substack.
Me too. In my view, there hasn't been anything as good as Substack since the very early days of the public's adoption of the Internet.
